Difference between praise and encouragment
Students need to be encouraged more than praised. We need to be aware of what we tell the kids of and make sure to encourage and not so much praise and it is for a reason.

Journals in Prek
This is a great idea for all you teachers that purchase your own items for the classroom. This teacher cut the notebooks that she uses for journal in half, this is such a money saving space saving idea. Awesome!
Texas Flag
What a cool way to incorporate Texas history. The children cut little blue and red paper and pasted it on a flag form. They are learning Texas information and they are also using their fine motor skills.

Portfolios
This is an awesome way to keep the students work and also display it at the same time. I saw this idea in lots of head start classroom and also in a district prek class. They staple a tag board sheet on the bulletin board with a flexible 2 hole fastener prongs. Then you can just keep adding work securely. It is such great idea!!
Counting words in a sentence
I saw this great activity at a PreK classroom. The teacher was telling the students sentences and they had to move the counters up for each word. The children were engaged and used manipulatives to learn the phonological awareness activity of sentence segmenting
Shape of things
I saw this great activity in a Prek classroom. Students listened to the book called The Shape of Things and then they made their own pictures with shapes. Awesome!!

you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man
Have fun this winter with the gingerbread man story. Have some cut outs for the little ones, you can have the older ones cut their own out and decorate it with lots of fun things. I found this in one classroom and since I love the classic story, I had to take a picture.
You could use this or any other story and find a song to make it fun.
